Wasting Light...

"Ain't that the way it always starts"
The opening lyrics of Arlandria, off the Foo Fighters' 7th studio album, Wasting Light.

There was much hype around Wasting Light before its release; and with good reason. With soul-piercing tracks like Walk, Miss The Misery and Dear Rosemary and classic Foo Fighters' rock sounds like A Matter of Time and Rope, the Foo Fighters have shown exactly why they are one of the few rock bands that has managed longevity in mainstream music.

This album sees guitarists Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear in fine form, succeeding in bringing the Foo Fighters' characteristic rock sound through melodic undertones and bone-chilling riffs.

The lyrics, in classic Foo Fighters' fashion, are incredibly clever yet meaningful and when delivered by the distinctive vocals of lead singer Dave Grohl, take the Foo Fighters' sound to another level entirely. Let's just say there's a reason why the Foo Fighters are one of my favourite bands.

Honestly, I think there is a song on this album for everyone, irrespective of their taste in music. For example, take the lyrics of Walk: "Learning to walk again. I believe I've waited long enough, where do I begin?" Find me someone who that doesn't mean something to, and I'll show you a liar.

Wasting Light is sure to bring the band further acclaim, and I expect many tracks on the album to join the ranks of Everlong, Learn to Fly and Co. in the Hall of All Time Foo Fighters' great hits.
